We launched the website last night! We are really excited. Already we have received over a hundred visits to the website. Just since about 10 pm last night! Woohoo! We have received views from people all over the world:

We filmed our first Rotten Thread commercial over the weekend with Roman. Check it out!

Well check out the store and fill out a reservation form for the shirt you like! This really helps us to make sure we are ordering enough. The reservations are already starting to come in!

I went to lunch with my parents today. I always love hanging out with them, we are a really close family. During lunch I told them all about Rotten Thread and our plans. They had a lot of positive feedback good criticism which helped to bring new aspects of the business to my attention. I love how encouraging and helpful they are. Simply put – my parents ROCK!

When I got home I immediately went to the computer. Yesterday was a slow day as far as Myspace is concerned. We didn’t receive a lot of attention or comments from people. So, of course, I began to get a little bit worried. I questioned whether or not this was a good idea and if we should keep moving forward. But today when I got onto Myspace, all of my worries and questions were washed away. We had received several comments and messages from people telling us they loved the shirts. But one comment really touched my heart and actually made me cry! An adorable girl wrote the following:

“What’s up, Rotten Thread!!!   I’m sooooo proud of you guys.! I checked out your website,andyou guys’ background touched my heart! You guys KEEP UP the good work! &nd STAY MOTIVATED!! Cause,I don’t know if it matters,but I see BIG THINGS for you two. I honestly do. Like,I wanted to start buying right away. Never give up,no matter how hard it may seem! It’ll be well worth it in the end.  I BELIEVE in Rotten Thread. -Sorry if I sound cheesy!- lol. But you guys are awesome.! I’m gonna spread the word of you guys,and support the best I can. But,otherwise,all my love & prayers go to you guys!”

When I read this tears filled my eyes and the biggest smile swept across my face. The first thing I did was call Javier. It feels so good to hear this from people outside of our immediate friends and family. It really encourages us and gives us that drive needed to keep moving forward.

So I wanted to take the time to thank not only our friends and family, but also each and every one of our new friends on Myspace who take the time to give us a chance and support us. We greatly appreciate it!

Today has been an awesome day! Our website has had over 200 views in the last two days, our myspace 300. We have 500+ friends on myspace and about 18 fans on facebook (that one needs some work guys! lol). We are receiving an overwhelmingly good response from people on myspace, tons of people have commented and messaged us to tell us they like the shirts. So we are SUPER excited.

Now every time I log into myspace it looks like this:

It cracks me up. And it feels wonderful! It really seems like everything is coming together perfectly.

We’re still working on the site and are hoping to have it launched by Sunday! We will keep you guys posted.

Hey guys!

So if you’re reading this blog entry you are probably wondering who or what we are.

Rotten Thread is an up and coming clothing company based out of San Antonio, TX (although we hope to be moving to Austin SOON). Our shirts have more of a grunge and cartoon style to them.

First things first, the shirts are all designed by us! – Me (Shannon) and my husband Javier. In fact, we don’t only do the shirt designs, we do EVERYTHING else too. Javier is a graphic/web designer so he takes care of the website, blog, photography, photoshops, shirt designs, and all the other technical stuff. At this point your probably wondering “does Shannon even do anything?” well in defense, the answer would have to of course be “YES!!!! I do a lot! Thank you!” haha. I handle all of the writing (website content, blog entries, myspace content, facebook content, etc.), communications, promotion, research, and I help in brainstorming ideas. I’m also Javier’s handy little assistant and keep us organized and on track. We are a great team. Totally made for each other.

A little about us:

Javier and I are both 20 and have been married for almost a year (November 3). I’m currently enrolled in a community college here in town, attempting to actually finish school… I recently came back after deciding to drop out last year (took the year off). Javier is a high school dropout who was constantly told by his teachers that he’d never succeed. In fact, one even told him he might as well just go get a job at McDonalds because there wasn’t much else out there for him (way to inspire your students, eh?). He failed his senior year and had to repeat. He had a hard time focusing in school because he was always busy drawing all over his notes and was creating websites at night instead of doing his homework. So, sick of school he decided to leave it and pursue his dream (haha that sounds so lame). He got a job working at a local ad agency and then later we decided to create our own ad agency. And so we did. We named it IDS (Innovative Design Solutions) Advertising. It is slowly beginning to make us money but not quite enough yet so Javier still freelances for another agency.

For the past year or so we kept talking about how awesome it would be to own our own clothing line. We’re both pretty creative so we were constantly bouncing t-shirt ideas off of one another. One day we sat down and actually started drawing them out. We thought to ourselves “We should print these, I want to wear them”. We started showing a few close friends what we had and they told us they loved them (Umm… Hopefully they aren’t just lying to us… haha)

So that brings us to now. We spend every waking moment (that Javier isn’t working which is pretty much full time) sitting at a desk in our apartment hovering over our computers and working hard at making this dream become a reality (sorry about all the cliche lameness! I don’t know what’s gotten in to me today!).

We’re not the richest people in the world (actually… we dont really have a whole lot… ok we’re freakin POOR! haha) so we’re fixing up Javiers old SUV to hopefully sell so we can get the start up funds to invest in the shirt printing. Once we get the cash and print the shirts we will begin selling. We’re hoping by November or so.

In a few weeks we will be launching the website complete with an online store. Here you will be able to view all the shirts we plan on printing, as well as all the info (size, price, etc.) just like a normal website store. The only difference is that instead of selling (remember they wont be ready till Nov. or so) we will begin taking reservations for the shirts (no money down). This will help us to estimate how many shirts we should order, and which ones are more popular. Once they are available to purchase we will send all the people that made reservations an email notifying them that the shirts are available for purchase. We’ll do this a few days before we actually put them online to the general public so that those who made reservations have top priority. It will be a first come (or I suppose I should say reserved) first serve type of thing. From there we will keep investing our earnings and printing more shirts. And we will begin releasing new designs as well (we’ve got tons of them!) So did you get all that? Or did I confuse you like crazy?? lol

Despite the nuisance and the headaches, we’re still having a good time. I’m working on the Myspace right now, just put up pics of the shirts in the photo album. And Javier is dealing with the more technical stuff -- of course.

On a side note -- In order to come up with the money to invest into this HUGE project, we have decided to sell Javier’s old SUV. We wont get much for it, but we’ll get enough to cover us. I’ll have to take pictures of that thing for you haha, its uhh interesting. I hate that SUV with a passion. It’s a mutual thing. He has a lot of fixing up to do on it, and a whole lot of cleaning. But if we can sell it, it will be well worth it. So if anyone out there wants a 92 Chevy Blazer, let us know!

Hello everyone!

This is the first official Rotten Thread Posting. We decided to go ahead and put up our blog now so we can keep everyone up to date on what is going on around here. Most blogs start when the company has taken off but we have decided to take a different approach to things. We want you guys to experience first hand everything we are experiencing from the beginning. So Javier and I will begin blogging daily to share all the details of Rotten Thread with you guys.

I suppose now I should say “Welcome to the website!” But no worries, this isn’t it. We have much MUCH more in store for you. Javier is busy coding away so hopefully it will be up and running soon (assuming he doesn’t get carpal tunnel along the way )

Here are some of the shirt designs we  have been working on the past month or so. You can find all of these on our myspace (www.myspace.com/RottenThread) and soon they will be available on our website.
